Bret had owned his share of trucks before. This time he was in search of a newer, late model semi-truck. A specific ad that offered to design your truck before you take delivery is what sold Bret on the deal. “The fact that I was able to get exactly what I wanted out of a truck sounded too good to be true. Never had I imagined that I’d get to jump in a six figure truck!” With such a new program comes obvious speculation. Dan Brown walked Bret through every step of the process. Including, putting in over 40 hours of talk-time on the phone discussing every detail that went into Bret’s truck and any questions or concerns that Bret had. In the beginning, just reassuring him that this wasn’t a scam was his main concern. He asked himself, “Is this really possible?”

Once on board, Bret selected the truck of his choice and within a month of back and forth communication, by June Bret was able to pick up his DB Kustom Truck. He opted for a shade of blue. One that he wants his fleet of trucks to be recognized by, Galaxy Blue. “I loved that blue so much that I told the guys that there is no such thing as too much blue on my truck. If they could dip the entire truck in it, then I’d be happy.” Bret currently owns a day cab of the same blue with metal flake in it. His original reasoning came from a glance at a Dodge Viper parked at a dealership. “That Viper had to be a $140,000 car… and since I keep all of my money tied up in semi-trucks, I knew that I’d never have a cool toy like that. So I figured the closest I’ll get is to make my semi-trucks a $140,000 paint job truck.” He also ties the Galaxy Blue to his background of serving in the Air Force. All of the government trucks were the same kind of blue. Bret enlisted for four years as a heavy equipment operator, during 2002-2006. He initially learned how to drive a semi while stationed in Iraq. He gives all credit to an Army National Guard that was a full time owner operator, hauling concrete barriers on a flatbed. The two became close and the Army Guardsman taught him all that he knew about driving a truck. From then on, Bret was hooked on trucking.

For Bret, owning his own DB Kustom Truck and the direct one-on-one assistance in working with Dan Brown in turning his dream into a reality, made the entire experience unforgettable. He understands the many concerns about beginning your business as an owner operator, but when you’re able to start out with something that you’re enthusiastic about, for example; your own custom built truck, then it motivates you to work that much harder. Then days at work seem a lot less like work.
