Payne Trucking was founded in 1971 in Brandy, Virginia by Daniel E. Payne. The small dump truck company grew steadily, enjoying the boost that came with the industry deregulation of the 1970s and the timely decision to add a van division to the business. This continued expansion soon included a successful brokerage division and a storage division. It also necessitated the need for a larger facility and the subsequent move to Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1991.

For the past forty years, Payne Trucking has been known throughout the trucking industry for its commitment to service and its diversity of offerings. It has also stood out for its ability to adapt to the changing demands of its customers and the marketplace. . . Thus it may have surprised a few industry insiders when, in 2010, Daniel Payne decided to adapt once again and sell both the van and brokerage divisions. With this decision to focus solely on the bulk hauling operation, the present-day Payne Trucking was born. Payne Trucking operates in its new facility adjacent to the I-95 corridor off of the Spotsylvania exit in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The company owns and operates a growing fleet of over one-hundred and thirty late-model dump trucks and trailers and utilizes the contracted services of over one hundred additional units.
